Its that simple.
There was a time when I was incredibly unfit. In fact I was obese. Of course I had tried exercises and fitness regimes, diets (both crash and sensible), but nothing had really worked. And I had no idea why...
Its probably the same story that a lot of people in our culture tell - you start off with the best of intentions, but within a few weeks you lose interest and the strategy to get fit and healthy falters and fails.
But then I discovered dance.
Dance was different. Dance provided a whole different set of reasons for keeping up the regime....
- Dance was fun - I actually enjoyed taking part
- I made lots of friends in my class, and I looked forward to seeing them at each class
- I started to get good at it!
I was persuaded to start going to dance class by a friend who knew I needed help, and I am so glad that I did. I have never looked back, because the reasons for going along and taking part are so different from any other plan to lose weight that I have tried before.
So eventually I chose to change my diet to go along with my exercise from dance classes. But not just so I could lose weight, but in order to lose weight so I could dance better. It became the central motivation.
I have built this simple website in order to try and get across something of my passion for dance as a form of exercise. I genuinely think that dance can change the lives of a lot of people, just as it did for me.
